Users will see in the IEDB receptor exports that there are two groups of fields for the VDJ Genes and for the CDR 1, 2, and 3 sequences; described as either 'curated' or 'calculated'. Below is the difference between the two types:
- Curated - The curated sequences and genes are entered exactly as the authors specified them in the publication by our team of curators.
- Calculated - The calculated sequences and genes are made more uniform by running the available sequence information through code to calculate the corresponding CDR sequences and gene usage information using IMGT numbering and VDJ gene nomenclature format. We also calculate variable domain sequences and VDJ gene usage from full chain protein sequences based upon the IMGT numbering scheme using ANARCI software v1.1, as described in this publication: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6255941/
