The IEDB captures immune epitope data for all hosts described in the published literature. These span from humans to primates, goats, cows, dogs, rodents, camels, or any other species utilized in an immune epitope assay. These hosts are characterized using NCBI taxonomy (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/taxonomy), with additional synonyms and common names provided by the IEDB.
The host text search box is present on the home page, where you can search for any other hosts not offered in the list above:
and also on the search results page, where access to all hosts having data in the IEDB is available:
This field allows users to enter free text and provides auto-complete functionality, displaying the best matches to what the user types. Because organism names are so varied, if the user does not find the host they are searching for, the Organism Finder, which is opened by clicking the "Find" icon
presents the totality of hosts having data in the IEDB (http://help.iedb.org/entries/21833888-Using-the-Organism-Finder).
